Nebbia

It’s mesmerizing – the nebbia (fog) that weaves its way over the valley below us.

Our nebbia theater begins in earnest in September with the arrival of autumn rains and cooler evening temperatures. Each morning, as the warmer air settles over the cooled earth, the wispy, white tendrils appear – stretching their way across the valley and into the hills beyond. Sometimes the nebbia creates a misty wall of white and we can’t see beyond our terrace.

So in early morning we stand at the railing, with cappuccino in hand, watching the drama unfold. Slowly, slowly, the sun’s rays push their way through, and the nebbia dissipates … melting away into thin air.

Buongiorno.
